Lady Mustangs lose in Semi Quarter final regionals.

The Lady Mustangs got beat in the first 2 out of 3 games last weekend in Abilene, TX. They played a tough team from West. TX. Those girls had speed and their bats were hitting our pitchers. The first game we lost 8-3, after leading 3-1. We made too many errors in one inning and it cost us the game. Our regular first baseman got cleated and needed to go to the hospital, so Bailey got to play most of the first game and then all of the second game. It sure was nice to see her play. The second game was 4-0 final score, we just couldn't get our girls in from the bases. Left way too many stranded on base.
While in Abilene, we took Rieley to the zoo. It was her first experience at a zoo and I think she liked it. It was a very small zoo, went through it in about 30 minutes and this was good because it was HOT!!!!!!!!!!!! Her cheeks were bright red and she was hot from riding in the stroller. At the end of the zoo, we took her in the gift shop and she choose a red eyed tree frog she has seen on a tv show not at the zoo.
The Lady Mustangs finished the season strong and have nothing to be ashamed of. Only 2 starting seniors are leavin plus 2 others, so we should have a strong team next year.

First tomato off of the plants.

Rieley and daddy picked the first tomato off of out tomato plants last night. She was so excited but would do nothing but show people and get all excited.

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun- at coaches expense

Last night, the parents and booster put a dinner together for the girls and their families. The girls and coaches had steaks and the rest of us had hotdogs. It was Rainey's birthday, so there were cupcakes. Plus, other food for us to enjoy. The girls started goofing around and one thing led to another and before it was over Coach Conyers was covered with cupcakes and their icing and bottles of water. I am glad she wasn't riding home in my car, she was a mess. But, boy did the girls have fun. I sure hope it doesn't come back to bite them in the butt at practice today.

Regional Quarter Final Champions

After being delayed on Friday from a best of 3 series, to playing one game on Saturday to determine the winners. Our girls came out a little slow but battled back and won 3-2, over Lubbock Cooper. To say the team and fans of LC were stunned, would be an understatement. The look on their faces was priceless. Our pitching was solid, behind Kelly Pilcher, who did an awesome job pitching, fielding and a beating. There were errors on both sides of the field, luckily our bats were able to make contact with their pitcher, that we weren't able to do the first time we played and they won 3-0, back at the beginning of the season. Now, the girls head to Abilene to face West in the best of 3 series this weekend. Tim, Rieley and I will be making the trek to watch the girls, while the boys stay home and hopefully don't destroy the house. May just hold off cleaning until then. haha
GO LADY MUSTANGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Our garden is sprouting.

We have been patiently waiting to see if anything we planted is going to grow. Well, this past weekend the cucumbers peeked through the ground and now the pumpkin, canteloupe and corn have followed along. Sure hope we get some yummy things from our garden. The tomatoes and peppers by the house continue to grow also.

Andrews Girls Softball Area 3A Champions

The girls played a tough game Thurs night, but held onto win 3-2 in 8 innings. They drove back to Andrews, while Hunter, Rieley and I stayed in Big Springs for the night. I had no intentions of driving back at 10 pm and getting home at midnight, only to return for one game on Fri, possibly 2, The girls then went to school Fri morning and left to come back to Colorado City for the first game at 5pm. The started out ok, but kicked butt from the second inning on. The other team, lost their number one pitcher to a blister on her finger of her delivery hand. Not a good way to go out, but ours girls took advantage of the new pitcher and hit away. They won this game 13-0 in 5 innings. Bailey, was the dh for the game and made contact twice and struck out once. She never made it on base, but did have an RBI. Had a nice fly out to center field but the player caught it, was nice to see her hitting the ball again. This team of girls has 8 sophomores on it and will be a strong team for the 2 years to come.
They play Lubbock =Cooper this coming Fri and Sat in Snyder,TX. Tim, Rieley and I will be heading that way Fri and plan on spending the night. The girls will once again head home for the night and return on Sat. They are calling for storms and rain this weekend, hoping they will hold off until the games are done. This team beat us 3-0, in the Midland Tournament back at the beginning of our season. Our girls have improved greatly since then. Our defense is awesome, hoping the bats will be hitting. Bailey will be playing first base Friday night, as the regular first baseman will be away at the state track meet in Austin and will join the team on Sat. It will be best out of three games, unless weather plays a factor.
It was nice to have Hunter along to help with Rieley and not to have to drive by alone with Rieley. He is not a big fan of softball, but was a good sport. We got to spend some time visiting and had a nice time. I am so glad to have him home for the summer.

Bailey's All Academic Accomplishments

Mon, May 3 2010, Bailey was rewarded for making 90% and above in all of her classes for the school year. She actually didn't drop below a 94% in any and we are very proud of her. There were only like 27 kids out of her class that received this award. Her class is small, with only somewhere around 250 kids, but it doesn't seem like education is a high priority here. Kids do what they need to, to get by and play sports and that is it. She has not liked it here since we moved but knows school work is important and needs good grades to move further in life. She is a very motivated person when it comes to school and we are do proud of her. YEAH Bailey.
